Editing, Writing, and Research Services

I’ve done freelance editing for about 10 years.  Much of my editing work was for international organizations, including research papers written by multiple authors, none of whom wrote in English as their first language.  As you can imagine, that is laborious, but it is also fun, and uses some of my translation skills; I think about the writer’s intended meaning and the reader’s ease of receiving the information.  I do content editing, structural, and copyediting.  I also do proofing.

I’ve done grantwriting and writing for people for about 20 years.  I’ve written successful grants to major foundations.

I’ve done much research for others, mainly in my areas of expertise, for 25+ years.  This includes work on property rights, land reform, and common property; conservation and sustainable development; nontimber forest products; community conservation; and Latin America.

Generally I charge by the hour for all of the above work.  For research, it’s best if the client has a budget with clear parameters so I can give an idea of what I think can be accomplished.

I’ve also done a fair amount of conference organizing (I love logistics and planning!) and some public relations work, mainly in the past.
